Premium device with stunning photography functionality : Hello Kodak Ektra
The Kodak brand has returned to life as the Eastman Kodak and the Bullitt Group presents a handset designed with the company’s expertise. Kodak introduced on Thursday an Android-based phone called Kodak Ektra, and it’s a legit device for capturing images.
The unit is available today in the U.K. and soon arriving in the U.S. Kodak Ektra features a 21-megapixel camera. That’s matched against a 12 megapixels device versus the top-tier smartphones such as the iPhone 7. Additionally there is a 13-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.
You’ll find it packed into a retro-style appearance paying homage to an old Kodak camera. Kodak Ektra feature a big f/2.0 aperture lens, leather wrapped within the surface plus a curved edge, making it simpler to hold.
You will find a camera button on the frame to grab photos and a wheel to modify the configuration settings. Also, you can purchase a $70 leather case that appears to be similar to one you’d use for a classic camera.
Not all features are vintage. You will see a USB type-C port on the side, to help you quickly dock snap shots onto your laptop or computer. In addition, it includes 32GB of storage, therefore you don’t have to move photographs over immediately.
Kodak team up with apps like Snapseed for making editing and enhancing on the gadget effortless.
Be amazed with the stunning photos it took in different lighting conditions. While it’s definitely enjoyable to use, it also has its disadvantages: It will take a short time for a photo to be processed and saved after clicking the press button.
Also, it is quite heavy -- the obvious issue with loading a full 21-megapixel camera, high-quality lens and a strong processor right into a compact gadget.
After all, consumers can still browse the net, download and use apps, call someone and do everything you would with an Android device. Currently, Kodak Ektra runs its mobile operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow (it’s unclear whether users will be able to update to Android 7.0 Nougat).
Kodak Ektra could be a selling point for photography hobbyists who don’t want to lug around a standalone camera.
