Real talk, each of us probably knows of at least one networking agent who has tried to convince us that we need them in our lives. Many of them offer products for health and beauty but some just want to scam the heck of us.
Because of pyramiding scams, networking has since had a bad reputation in the Philippine market, thus, a networker’s presence is deemed unlikeable.
A usual line that a networker tells its next prey is “open-minded ka ba?” (are you open-minded?) which is a sign that we have to get to our feet and run for our lives. Their uncalled for presentations sometimes eat up too much of our precious time and because we want to escape, we just end up buying what they’re selling!
But this balut vendor isn’t having it.
On a Facebook post that went viral, an agent sent a message to a Facebook friend and asked about his job. The recipient answered that he is a balut vendor.
The agent then took the chance to ask if the vendor wanted ‘extra income’ because if he does, he will help him out.
In one condition.
The vendor will have to ‘invest’ 6,980 pesos to take advantage of the ‘opportunity’. Crazy, right?
We do understand that it takes money to earn money but for something that only really sells the networking side of the business, taking the risk wouldn’t be worth it.
The balut vendor graciously declined and said that he does not have enough money for it and even told the agent that he can ask someone else instead.
An agent’s natural response is something like “you will regret turning my offer down”, which he did. He told the balut vendor that he should not miss this chance to turn his life around and become a millionaire someday.
And the twist of events took place.
The vendor asked him a real question:
“Why aren’t you rich yet?”

The networker has been with this networking company but his life has not changed yet. He currently works in Saudi.
The vendor then asked that if this networking thing really works, then why is he still in Saudi, working his ass off?
Mr. Networker didn’t expect that!
He was left dumbfounded and speechless. To end their conversation, the vendor said, “nagpaparesell ako.. ikaw na lang mag invest sa balutan ko.”
Slow clap, everyone.
