Tinuy-an falls : The ‘Niagara Falls’ of the Philippines
The ‘Niagara Falls’ of the Philippines is located in Barangay Borboanan in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur. Tinuy-an falls is currently one of the most popular tourist spots in Surigao del Sur. The white water curtain spans 95 meters wide and 180 feet (55 meters) high. The water falls in three levels making Tinuy-an falls the widest waterfall in the Philippines.
It has three levels of curtain-like cascading waters and a fourth tier hidden from view. The second level being the tallest of the three is where tourists swim and explore.
There are also bamboo rafts available for rent which cost 100 to 150 pesos each that will get you close to the cascading waters. Moreover, expect to catch a glimpse of the beautiful rainbow in proximity between 9:00 a.m and 11:00 a.m.

You’ll never run out of different tourist destination in the area. Therefore, it is best to maximize your time. Make sure to check out the 24 Britania coral Islets that resemble floating topiaries from a safe distance. The panoramic islands rest in Lianga Bay, San Agustin and to get up-close, just arrange a boat trip from one of the numerous resorts lined up along the way. Also, a spot worth checking out is the most visited “Enchanted River” situated in Barangay Talisay, Hinatuan.
How to Get There : Tinuy-an falls
Located in Sitio Sote, Barangay Burboanan, Bislig City, the Tinuy-an Falls can be reached from Davao City through the Davao-Agusan Highway passing through the provinces of Davao del Norte, parts of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley, and Agusan del Sur and Norte. It’s a good 6 to 8 hour trip depending on your speed and road conditions. From Bislig City, private vehicles can go straight to Tinuy-an. Commuters can hire a tricycle or habal-habal to take you to the waterfalls just 30 minutes from the city proper.
