On their FaceBook page, Siargao Wakepark stresses the discerning steps they employed: “We have made this Wakepark with the utmost concern. It consists out of an artificial lake, sealed with plastic liner. It does not harm the environment, and if necessary, it can always be reinstalled to its natural self. No concrete, no waste!”
Additionally, the area assigned to the artificial lake was already an open space utilized for cultivating sweet potatoes wherein only a minimal number of trees had to go to give way for the structure.
Furthermore, according to a source, that the park project only began its construction in 2016 only after the Department of Environment and Natural Resources issued them their environmental compliance certificate.
