  • Providing Permission

Exchange Trusted Subsystem must have access to EXUtil$ (Shared Folder). So, add the Exchange Trusted Subsystem to both Share Level and Security Level and also provide the full control permissions.

  • Adding Import/Export Permission

The permission of Import/Export are not allocated to users by default in an Exchange environment. So, for assigning the permission, follow the steps below:

  1. Using Organization Management, open Exchange Admin Center (EAC)
  2. Choose Permissions
  3. Double-click on the Role, which is already assigned to the user
  4. Then, click Add in the Role section
  5. Choose Mailbox Import Export, then OK

After giving permissions and shared folder creation, it’s time to begin Export process. Follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Move on to the users in EAC (Exchange Admin Center)
  2. Choose the desired mailbox for the conversion. Then, click on the button and then choose Export to a PST file option
  3. Provide the location of the Shared Folder which you have created in the previous section and add its name.
  4. At last, you need to select the users that will receive the messages regarding the process details and completion
  5. The user that is exporting data will also receive message containing details via Exchange Admin Center.  The selected user will be notified about the Export Exchange Mailbox to PST process including both Starting and Finish messages of the process.
